Stripes

Hello Girls!

The shirt I'm wearing is by Free People and I bought it at the store Mint. It is one of my favorite places to shop and there are several locations near me. I love how thin the stripes are and this shade of blue is so pretty. Very nautical to me. I did check the Mint website and I don't see it on there. However, I did find it on the Bloomingdale's website. The bad news is that this color is currently unavailable, but it does say to check back later. The good news is that it looks to be available in two other shades  that are just as pretty! Hurry before they sell out!

Also wanted to talk about where these pics were taken. I have talked about Shelter Island in prior posts, but I can't say it enough on how beautiful it is. I'm very lucky to live close by and can come over here any time I want. My aunt and I decided to walk over on the ferry as these spots are a 5 minute walk from there and then go to dinner after at my fave restaurant Sweet Tomatoes. In the second picture you can see the water behind me as we are up on a hill overlooking Greenport. I highly recommend taking a trip over here if you've never been.

Sparkly

Hello there!

Sorry I have been MIA the last week. My dad came out to visit from NC and I have been hanging out with him and his friends from right after work at 5 until like 11pm every night. I only get to go down south once every October so when he comes up here to visit, I usually spend every night hanging out with him so that is why I haven't been able to post. However, I did lots of photos for different outfits so I've been editing them and just need to get them up here on the blog!

How was everyone's weekend? Mine was very busy but very fun! I finally got to go swimming in a pool for the first time this summer and it's almost over already! Ha!

I was so excited to find this tank! I love sparkly things so this immediately caught my eye in the store. It was also on sale so I couldn't turn it down. I bought this from Calypso St. Barth, however, and I hate this-it is not on the website. I'm not sure if they compltely sold out or if some stores still have this tank. I got mine from the store located in Greenport, NY. It is definitely gorgeous. I think the photos don't even do it justice on how pretty it is.

You can totally play this tank up and make it really dressy for a night out or even a holiday...say like Christmas...or New Years! Or tame it down a bit like I did with jeans and a more neutral shoe. I was wearing it during the day so I wanted to tone it down as you can see. I think it would look awesome with a pair of white jeans before the summer is out. Then when winter comes bring out the black jeans and head out on the town!

Turquoise Heels

Hey guys! Hope everyone had a terrific weekend!

These shoes are just too pretty! Look at this color! The turquoise is so perfect for summer. They will brighten up any outfit. I chose to wear a basic white tee but I think you can wear these with a lot of different colors. I actually have a dress with a bunch of colors in it including hints of turquoise that would look awesome with these shoes. Now I just have to find somewhere to wear it to! The bag is actually old but coincidentally matches perfectly with these shoes! I couldn't believe how spot on it is. The greatest thing about these shoes is that they are on sale for $39.98!!!!! Down from $84.99 AND they come in 3 other colors!! Get them now before they are sold out!

Michael Stars Dress

And introducing....GiGa (pronounced Gee-Ja)
(my uncle's boxer)

Hey ladies!

I got this fabulous Michael Stars dress from Crinoline located in Greenport, NY. She has amazing stuff as I have bought quite a few things there that I absolutely love. I can't wait to go back soon and see what she has in store for the fall season!

If you've read prior posts, you will know that I like fitted clothing, especially dresses. This dress was perfect! I love the length and the rouging in the middle...great for those days where the belly does not want to stay flat! Ha!

On this particular day I was going somewhere a little more casual so I wore my sandals. If I were going out that night, I would have worn a great pair of heels or wedges and if it got cool, throw on a jean jacket. This dress is great because you can style it many ways. I also think this dress can take you right into fall season with the right accessories. Add a blazer and some booties and there ya go!

Now, I do have to mention that I bought this dress in the store. I checked their website and unfortunately it is not on there. However, this dress is on the Nordstrom website...and for the same price I paid for it. I didn't want to take away from Crinoline, but I know my readers would want the option to get this dress and I truly feel bad when something is not available online. Plus, I know not everyone lives near me and can go to the same stores as I do. But I strongly recommend checking out the website for Crinoline, as you can find some fantastic finds!

Not your basic tee

Hey guys! Hope your weekend went well! It sure was a hot one here! I'm all for summer as it is my fave season, but when you just walk outside and starting sweating....that's a little much.

When I went shopping for a necklace in Violets Blue, I was surprised to find this shirt there as I don't really go there for the clothes. If you have never been to this store, please find one and go!! Seriously, you will be in there for an hour. They have amazing stuff! The site unfortunately doesn't show everything they have, including this shirt. :(

So I am looking around the store at all the pretty stuff they have and this shirt immediately caught my eye so I tried it on and loved the neutral color and how it was cut. I find that when shirts cut high on the sides and the dip down in the front and back, it is very flattering. This shirt is so easy to wear casually or dressed up. You can basically pair it with anything: jeans, shorts, skirts, flats, sneakers, sandals, heels. The options are endless!

Five Favorites

Hello, ladies! Okay so my sincere apologies as I think this is the longest I've gone without posting and I definitely feel terrible about it.  To do a little recap, I was away in PA for a couple days and then I had to attend a wake. So it has definitely been a little crazy to try and catch up on things and get back into some type of routine. I feel like there is never enough time to get everything done.

I still need to edit two sets of photos so I decided to make this post a little different. Plus I thought it would be a great way to break up the fashion posts I've been doing. If you noticed the title, it says five favorites which means I will be telling you my five favorite things that I love. There is without a doubt more than five, but I thought that number was a good one to start off with.

I don't know about you, but I love when bloggers do Q&A's and make lists of their fave things no matter what the subject is. I feel it's a great way to get to know the blogger on a more personal level and what makes them unique.

So here it goes....

1.  Reading  I absoulutely love to read. I was the one who actually read the books we were assigned to in school while everyone else read the cliff notes. Ha! I have tons and tons of books and I'm not exaggerating. I believe I have about 4-5 tote containers of books and those are the ones that I haven't read yet. Something about reading relaxes me and when I'm really stressed, it helps get my mind off of things and basically takes me away from reality for a bit. I will read about anything that piques my interest so it's hard to say if I have a favorite genre. Now we all know that books aren't exactly cheap so how I get all of these books is through paperbackswap.com. To put it simply, you swap books with other members. It is the best thing invented! It has saved me soooo much money. If the book you want isn't available yet, then you create a wish list and when it becomes available you then get an email alert. You wanna know how many are on my wish list? 104! ha! I also want to throw in there that I have a subscription to about 12 magazines. Yes, it's an addiction. We'll leave it at that.

2.  Collecting beach glass  Living on Long Island, I am surrounded by beaches. Especially on the East End where I am from/live. I grew up with having many choices of what beach I want to go to and a lot of them are as close as 5 minutes away. It's definitely something I have taken granted for in the past. I can remember driving from beach to beach in high school as those were the popular spots to hang out but the police would always chase us out so we would just drive to the next one. (There are not many things to do in my town as a teenager). Now the collection of beach glass didn't really start fully until the last couple of years. I had a few pieces here and there but as I got older and started walking on the beaches more often, I literally have become obsessed with trying to find pieces. I definitely have found some rare colors which I am so excited about. I have a few books (there's those darn books again..lol) on beach glass and all their different colors and the rarity of each one. It's really exciting when you find a color that is not so common.

3.  Traveling    I love going to new places. It is such an amazing feeling when I get to visit a place I've never been. I love seeing buildings, stores, and houses in other places and seeing what life is like at these locations. I have traveled (not too far) by myself before. I wouldn't say it's scary but rather it can by lonely at times because you want to share the experience with someone. I actually have a list (see number 4) of places I want to go to. I haven't counted lately but it's probably around 25 places. A lot are actually in the U.S itself. Some places aren't too far from me where I could make it like a weekend thing so hopefully I can cross those off my list soon. I do have to say though that I HATE flying. I seriously have to take something before I get on a plane-speaking of which-I think my prescription is expired :0  That is my sideways "oh no" face if anyone is trying to figure out what that is. Ha! Anyway, back to the story: I'm not sure what it is. Probably a combination of having a bad flight years ago, September 11, and the whole not being in control issue. So even though I dread it, I don't let it stop me from going anywhere because there are so many beautiful places I have yet to see and want to experience it all. Does anyone else hate flying? What do you do to relax? Let me know!

4.  Making lists  Okay so I guess this is my OCD coming out, but I LOVE making lists! I make lists for everything. You ready to hear what I make lists for??? Here it goes: grocery shopping (obvious), songs I want to put on my iPod, movies I want to watch, places I want to visit, things I need to put on my blog!, things I have to do on random days, things I want/need to get at any time, products I want to try at Sephora, books that I want to get, things I need to pack for when I go away, people I need to buy for at Christmas along with gift ideas next to their name. Do you get the idea? I know I have more lists somewhere but off the top of my head those are a few. Did I also mention that I have sticky notes everywhere too? I'm pretty sure I make the person who invented stickys millions the way I go through them. LOL They are literally everywhere! My car, on and in my planner, on my dresser, nightstand, purse, computer, and all over at my job (for those newbies reading, I am currently a Senior Credit Analyst). I'm addicted to stickys! Is there a group for that? Can anyone else relate?

5.  Car/truck shows  So I don't know how many girls will relate to this one but it's a part of my life and makes me...me! To try and make this a short story...my dad has always been into cars (for the record when I say cars I mean hot rods, classic cars, muscle cars...and when I say trucks I mean pickups and tractor-trailer trucks). He has always been able to build them from the ground up and is very talented. When my parents got divorced, he moved to NC and worked for NASCAR on the pit crews of Ricky Rudd and Elliot Sadler. He currently has his own shop and works on nothing by hot rods. My grandfather is a retired truck driver and my uncle is not only into cars as well and has had them growing up and still does, he also owns a few tractor-trailer trucks. So I love going to car shows and also truck shows. That's actually where I was this past weekend. I went to Carlisle, PA for the All Truck Nationals. My uncle, his girlfriend, our friends, and my brother went and had a blast. My uncle won a trophy for his truck and will have an article written up and featured in a paper that goes out to millions! It was my first time going to this specific show and I had a blast! Definitely going next year again. You basically use your hotel room to shower and sleep and that's it. We are at the fairgrounds all day every day so it wasn't very practical for my to bring my lap top (no where to plug in if the battery ran out). I think I need to get an Ipad--yes I currently do not have one--I probably should get with the times! It would definitely make blogging a heck of a lot easier when I do those sort of trips. Anyway, this is something I grew up around so naturally it's something I love. My senior pic (non-formal one) for high school was actually me standing on top of my uncle's Peterbilt truck. Hmmmm country girl perhaps?? haha And I also want my own 69 Camaro, 71 Chevelle.....and a few others. lol

P.S. I know I said five things, but I am obsessed with ice cream, but that's a whole other topic! Just thought I'd throw that in there!

So I hope you got to know a little more about me. I wold love to hear comments or questions from you guys!

xoxo

Nautical

Hello there!
I am going away to PA this week so unfortunately this will be my only post for the week until I get back. I won't have my computer and not even sure I will have much service on my phone. I will hopefully get to go on Snapchat and Instagram while I'm away. If you want to follow me, my Instagram is @jellarieblog and my Snapchat user name is j.ellarie. Working on getting my icons with these links on the site soon.!

In the meantime, can we talk about how cute this outfit is?! If I haven't mentioned before, I will say it now: I love nautical everything! Obviously being from Long Island and surrounded by beaches, I have a thing for the nautical theme. Navy to me is like the go-to color for summer. I love pairing it with white with gold jewelry. The shorts, shirt, and necklace are all from Creations by Lisa. My last several posts have been clothes I got from there as when I went Memorial Day weekend, they had a boat load (nautical reference there-Ha!) of clothes that I loved and at such great prices! Seriously, everything I got was between $15-$40! I truly wish they had a website so you can see their clothes! All I can do is link their Facebook so that you can see pictures of things they get in and a feel for what they sell.
